Day 1 – From Paramaribo to Kourou: Culture & History
Your adventure begins at 7:30 AM with a comfortable transfer from Paramaribo to Albina, including a relaxing breakfast stop at Stolkertsijver.
Upon arrival in Albina, enjoy a short guided tour before crossing the river into French Guiana, arriving in Saint-Laurent-du-Maroni. Here, step back in time as you explore the infamous Bagne de Saint-Laurent, a former penal colony rich in powerful history.
Afterward, immerse yourself in local life with a visit to the vibrant market, where you’ll enjoy lunch. We then continue our scenic drive to Kourou (approx. 2.5 hours).
After hotel check-in, the afternoon is yours to relax or explore. In the evening, enjoy dinner at a restaurant of your choice, followed by a short briefing for the exciting day ahead.
Day 2 – The Legendary Devil’s Islands
After breakfast, we head to the marina and board a catamaran for a breathtaking 1.5-hour cruise to the famous Îles du Salut (Devil’s Islands).
Discover the haunting beauty of these historic islands as we visit two of the three islands, exploring the ruins of the old prison system while hearing the dramatic stories that shaped their past.
Enjoy a picnic lunch surrounded by tropical scenery, with time to relax, explore, and take in the views.
In the afternoon, we sail back to Kourou. The evening includes dinner at a local restaurant and a short guided walk to experience the charm of the town.
Day 3 – From Space to Home
explore the town and visit the famous Bagno Prison Museum, known for the story of Papillon.
After returning to Albina for lunch, we board the bus for the journey back to Paramaribo, arriving in the late afternoon and bringing the adventure to a close.
